Overview

Ray-Ban is such an iconic brand, when we were asked to re-design their website, we thought there was a broader opportunity than just an E-commerce shop. We started by looking at the brand and the cultural influence it has had on the world. Ray-Ban has a history of being associated with famous creatives and iconoclasts such as Andy Warhol and James Dean. We wanted to create an online experience that allowed Ray-Ban to put forward it’s view of the world and how it was shaping today’s modern culture. We started by creating our manifesto brand reel below.

Ray-Bans On or Off?

Our design concept was based on two separate views “I want a pair of Ray-Bans” or “I own a pair of Ray-Bans”. The homepage would present both product and branded content. If you navigated to the right-hand side of the site, you would find the online shop that was light and airy, which was the“Ray-Bans off” moment.

When you navigated left, you’d find the culture section. The design language of this area was dark, as if I had put on a pair of Ray-Bans and was viewing through their lenses. This was the area of the site that would give customers an online destination to find curated content about the brand, its creators and its view of the world.
