We were asked to create another brand campaign for Wren Kitchens, The UK’s leading kitchen retail specialist. They wanted a new concept for the Christmas period that dramatizes the “The Wren way”, a process rooted in meticulous passion that dictates everything Wren does.
It comes after a year of record growth for Wren, with this young brand being increasingly recognised for its quality and value and are set to dominate the kitchen retail space into 2019.
Our Concept centers around a love affair between a besotted customer, who’s fallen so deeply in love with his Dream Kitchen that his rushed down to the show room in his dressing gown and pyjamas. Our customer goes on an extravagant, action packed journey so he can be close to his kitchen through its design, manufacture, delivery and installation.
We worked closely with Wren in developing the creative and strategic approach to the comedic advert, which uses Bee Gee’s ‘How Deep Is Your Love.’ as its emotional sound track.
It’s the second campaign lead by myself and Tribal Worldwide London and was directed by Ben Whitehouse of Stink Films.
Stink, The production company, were determined to create a stand out film with the use the use of live action stunts. Pete Pedrero, stunt coordinator who worked on the Volvo Trucks, Epic Split film featuring Jean Claude Van Damme, was brought in ensure the success and safety of the daring stunt scenes shot in the Yorkshire Countryside and in Wrens Factory.
Behind the Scenes
The Final filming took place in Wrens brand new Reading showroom and London’s Black Island Studios, where a complete kitchen and chroma key CG kitchen set was built. The CG kitchen Internally nicknamed “The Blackbird of Kitchens” was set up to shoot live action sequences with the characters from the original ad, but allows us to completely replace the kitchen in post production, meaning we can create an exact specification of kitchen for price purposes and offers. We also shot cutaway sequences where our characters interacted with kitchen features, units and appliances so we can create a bespoke tailored ads for different times and media channels throughout the year.
